Homemade Grilled Salmon Recipe
Ingredients:
- 4 salmon fillets (6-8 oz each, skin-on recommended)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 lemon (zested and sliced into wedges)
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp paprika (optional for smokiness)
- 1 tbsp fresh dill or parsley, chopped (or 1 tsp dried)
- **Optional glaze:** 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup + 1 tbsp soy sauce
Instructions:
1. Prep the Grill:
Preheat to medium-high heat (375–400°F). Clean grates and oil lightly to prevent sticking.
2. Prepare the Salmon:
Pat fillets dry. Brush both sides with olive oil. Rub minced garlic onto the flesh. Season with salt, pepper, paprika, and herbs. For a glaze, mix honey and soy sauce in a small bowl.
3. Grill:
Place salmon skin-side down on the grill. Close lid and cook for **6-7 minutes** (skin will crisp).
Optional: Brush glaze on flesh during the last 2 minutes.
Carefully flip and cook for **1-2 minutes** more until internal temp reaches 145°F. Avoid overcooking.
4. Rest & Serve:
Let rest 3 minutes. Serve with grilled lemon wedges and fresh herbs.
Tips:
- Doneness Check: Salmon flakes easily with a fork when ready.
- Skin Handling: Start skin-side down; it releases naturally when crisp.
- Variations:
- Spicy: Add ½ tsp chili powder or cayenne to the rub.
- Herb Crust: Press chopped herbs + breadcrumbs onto the salmon before grilling.
- Teriyaki: Substitute glaze with 2 tbsp teriyaki sauce + 1 tsp ginger.
Serving Suggestions:
Pair with grilled asparagus, quinoa, or a citrus salad. Enjoy! 🐟🔥
